Academic skills are of course essential for children’s lifelong success, but without social-emotional development, students may not learn how to process their emotions and connect with others in healthy ways. That’s where mindfulness, neurographic art and journaling come in.
Mindfulness practices and emotional intelligence involve both an awareness and an acceptance of both the world around us and our internal experiences. When we are mindful, we focus more on the present instead of ruminating on the past or future, and we cultivate a curiosity towards our thoughts, emotions, or physical sensations.
Why NeuroEmotion? Social-Emotional Benefits
It is linked to self-regulation and self-awareness. These skills teach students not only how to recognize their thoughts, emotions, and actions, but also how to react in positive ways.
According to brain imaging research, practicing NeuroEmotion can alter the brain structure in a way that can improve a student’s reaction to stress. It can also help alleviate anxiety or depression. Studies have found that children who received mindfulness training earned better grades and had fewer behavioral issues compared to before they started the program.

The Neurographic method we use in these sessions stimulates new neural pathways by combining art and psychology. Connected neurons process information received, enabling students to interact, experience emotions and sensations, create positive memories and enhancing learning.
It transforms stress into works of art using only a piece of paper and a marker or paint. It’s been proved to reduce stress, fear and anxiety that often accompany the students. Once learned, it’s an easy technique that can be practiced helping with mental and emotional health.
Neurographic Art links the conscious with the subconscious and serves as a source of energy for the brain. It is a great exercise to let go of the thing’s students can’t control or to help them work through change and fear, but also to call upon what they would like in their life. It becomes a meditative method that helps to turn off the inner chatter and inner critic. The final piece is often a beautiful surprise to the creator of the artwork.
